Boost Immune Function in People with Esophageal Cancer

Clinical research suggests astragalus combined with ginseng may help fight throat cancer.

Immunity is suppressed in patients with this type of cancer, possibly due to injury from surgical treatment. In a randomized, controlled clinical trial involving 60 patients scheduled for surgery to remove cancerous areas. Following surgery, patients who had been randomly placed in the trial group were given an injection of shen-qi (formula combining ginseng and astragalus). Compared to the control group, the shen-qi group had significantly better immune system outcomes.12

A much earlier controlled clinical trial involving 176 patients undergoing chemotherapy for malignant digestive tract tumors demonstrated that those given shen-qi had improved immunologic functioning as well.75
